Microscopy (Sand morphology OR Fibre morphology)

£30 per sample

Sand shape can be quantified relatively accurately using an electron microscope and can be characterised according to angularity, roundedness and sphericity. The shape of the sand grains will influence the pore sizes between grains and therefore its performance. The PSD should be considered alongside sand morphology. Fibre morphology can be carried out using microscopy however a more detailed assessment of fibre composition will include fibre separation and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).
